Walter "Billy" Knight

Artist Statement
Walter “Billy” Knight was born in Bourke, in the far western of NSW. He did his schooling at a small rural school in Louth, and then went on to work as a stockman on station properties in New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia for 52 years. He was also a rodeo rider for 37 years.
Billy particularly enjoys painting landscapes, and capturing the changing vegetation and colours of different regions. All of Billy’s paintings have been created from memories of the various station properties where he worked throughout his years as a stockman.
Walter “Billy” Knight’s artwork is displayed at the gallery at the Barkindji Wiimpatya Murra Centre in Dareton, far western New South Wales.
